Although online banking has made life easier for consumers, it still comes with its risks. WebProNews recently spoke with Adam Wosotowsky of McAfee Labs who told us that consumers are susceptible to phishing attacks, drive-by downloads, and other infections that could result in their information being compromised.
As he explained, consumers need to be cautious when it comes to serious tasks such as online banking. He advises that consumers apply the following steps as they conduct their banking routines:
1. Beware of copycat sites
2. Avoid clicking on links in emails
3. Have strong password phrases
4. Don’t use third party apps when doing mobile banking
5. Utilize antivirus software
If these tips are taken into consideration, he believes that the chances of an attack would decrease.
